Why Do Roofs Have Rocks On Them

Roofing ballast is usually the little pebbles you see on a flat ish roof.
Why do roofs have rocks on them. Stuff i googled why do people have rocks on their roof 15 october 2011 at 07 11 reply also found some weird arizona thing about large rocks being placed on the roof to supposedly control the heat but i don t know if leave a reply cancel reply. I assume you re not talking about rocks meaning boulders but rather the layer of small stones you see not just on gas stations but on many flat roofs. Personally i dislike them. This appears to be a form of roof ballast.
